Hi I'm a new member but not new to the Chinese K40 laser. I've had mine about 3 years and have made a few modifications to it. The first was to replace the board with a Cohesion3D board because I wanted to use a program called Lighburn. Made up a new face plate for the controls and added a relay to turn on the exhaust blower and blowoff air (added a blowoff air nozzel). After about 2 years I burnt the unit up because of stupidity leaving the laser running and not being near it. Had to tear the unit apart repaint the housing and replace all damaged parts. The Cohesion3D board was fried so I reinstalled the original board. Now, I destroyed the X axis stepper driver on the board these are not replaceable like on the Cohesion3D board. So I ordered a m2nano off Ebay also 2 l298n stepper drivers. Finished wiring up the stepper drivers and checked both out using the gantry stepper driver and stepper. All is working well now it's a matter of waiting for the m2nano board and I'm back to engraving and cutting. An expensive learning lesson.
