Hi All,
Just got a new K40 Laser and the instructions on how to use it are really shabby. They don't even tell you what all the buttons and switches are for. Are there any instructions on this forum that could help me set this machine up better than what came with it. I know there are a lot of different control panel versions of this machine and this one has a big Emergency Switch and next to it is a Switch called "Switch Machine"

Hello Shadowjack, Greetings from Colombia. I perfectly understand your concern about the absolutely useless instructions included with the K40 machine, It happened to me exactly the same. The solution is simply: YouTube, There are several excellent videos concerning everything. Unboxing, installation, use of software Inkscape and Whisperer 40 etc. etc. If you check and download these videos, you will learn everything about this wonderful little machine. After one month of tinkering and watching videos, I finally cut my first balsa sheet, which is the main material I use my machine for. I make model airplane kits and the machine has worked beautifully. Be careful with your installation, especially the cooling water system. It is very easy but very important to check that it is working properly. Also you must prepare some sort of extraction through a window of the large plastic hose that extracts the fumes when cutting. Needless to say, you need a very good computer, Mine is a Desktop with Windows 7 but Windows 10 will also work.
You can also improve the machine with some additions that are alomst imperative, like the air blowing to the tip of the laser. Other issues can be improved although if you use the machine as it comes, it will give you excellent results. Contact me if you have any doubts or concerns. My email is edubarca1946@gmail.com. Good luck and all the very best. EDUARDO
