While aligning the y axis mirror I damaged the stepper driver. The stepper motor is a permanent magnet and when driven such as moving x or y during mirror alignment does induce a voltage into the drivers. They do have protection but if moved too fast can develop to much voltage and cause permanent damage to the driver. This is what I did damaged the driver. The driver on these boards can’t be replaced such as with a more expensive control board.so, I bought 2 L298N stepper drivers and interfaced them to a new control board. Now if I overdrive the driver(s) I can simple replace the driver and not the board.
